My Journey To A Clutter Free Life

I really enjoyed my previous career in Banking but I LOVE what I do now!

I’d been struggling with my own mental wellbeing and small piles started to build up in the corner of the room, part of my brain would say ‘it’s only going to take 5 minutes to tidy it up’, the other part wouldn’t let me move. I was in a state of decision paralysis. Being made redundant, my marriage had broken down, I was struggling to say the least. DOOM piles grew and my confidence plummeted. I then started saying the mantra Just 3 Things over and over again. I would literally pick up the first 3 things within reach and with pack it away, throw it away or recycle it some way. It’s a method I still use today with my clients when they are in a state of total overwhelm.
My confidence grew and helping friends organise their spaces gave me a sense of self worth

I started Clear the Clutter Now 2 weeks before the world paused due to Lockdown . Just a couple of years before, I was living with my two small children at the time at a friend’s house all squished in the tiny box room, with all our possessions in storage. Over time, my car became my storage and it became quite a source of amusement as when anyone needed anything, you could almost guarantee that I would have it in the boot of my car!

We’ve been in our home now for 8 years and people often say to me ‘I bet your house is really tidy’ my reply ‘No, not all the time, because I live in the real world. It’s busy, I have ADHD and am perimenopausal, my kids have activities, I run my business and support my Mum.

I don’t judge others because I’ve been there too. We all have been on a journey to get where we are today and by understanding that, I help you move forward to create a calm, organised home, space in your mind and time to do more of what you love.

My Work

I help people go from being overwhelmed to being motivated and inspired. I love seeing the transformation in them from closed body language and folded arms to smiles and even laughter, as their confidence and self-worth increases. When we unpick the issues behind the clutter, it puts them back in control and they feel empowered to make changes for themselves. I’m also there to support, encourage and motivate. I’m all about positivity and problem solving and I’m always coming up with ideas for free storage solutions, using things people already have in their homes.

When it comes to decluttering family homes, I get partners and children involved too! By introducing fun, enjoyment and satisfaction in to the process, families are more likely to maintain a longer term transformation.

I’m passionate about decluttering and organising and the positive impact it has on both mental and physical wellbeing and I now also share this with international audiences through speaking at events, on podcasts and as a guest expert in the press.
